Prof. (Dr.) Subhram Rajkhowa graduated from with Honours in Geography from Gauhati University. He obtained his Masters of Law from the Gauhati University with specialisation in Constitutional and Administrative Law and went on to obtain his Ph.D in the Constitutional Law from the same University in the Year 1998. He resigned from the State Judicial Service to join the service, initially as a Lecturer, and is presently holding the post of Professor at Gauhati University. In between he served on an UNDP assignment as an Associate Professor at Addis Ababa University for a term. He is a visiting Professor in a couple of Universities and has been called upon to deliver lectures in a number of Universities across jurisdictions . Prof Rajkhowa has behind him a number of academic assignments within the country and abroad having visited several universities.
He has number of published books on Human Rights. His works include; Human Rights- A Reflection; Indigenous Peoples- A Quest for Justice, International Human Rights (6 volumes); Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (2 volumes) and Comparative Public Law.
He has also contributed more than 70 research articles in various foray and many of his research articles have been published invarious reputed research law journals and books. He is the Editor of a couple of Journals and a member of Advisory Boards of Law Journals in published from different places in India University.
He has produced seventeen Ph. D scholars till date and another six scholars are conducting research under his supervision. He has conducted a few research projects as well.
Besides his academic assignments, he has contributed to grass roots level activities in the field of human rights and attended a number of programmes organised by the United Nations both as Geneva and New York. He is keenly involved with issues of Anti Personnel Landmines and Cluster Munitions as well as Small Arms and Light Weapons and is associated with several national and International nongovernmental Organisations like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, International Action Network for Small Arms, International Campaign to Ban Landmines, Indian Institute of Peace, Cooperation and environmental Protection, Commonwealth Legal Education Association, Global Alliance for Justice Education, Global Education Law Forum, among others. He was a member of Independent Peoples Commission on Dams in Arunachal Pradesh and invited as an observer to the Presidential Elections in Sri Lanka.
